Watch: Thats Not My Name- The Ting Tings

A few months back I discovered "Thats Not My Name" by The Ting Tings on Fluxblog and I really liked it. Its a funny song with a strangely catchy beat and I'm sure there are some people who can take the song's message to heart. I had MTV Hits on the other day and i saw this video on it and was actually shocked that they reached the mainstream media. So take a look~ 

Yahoo Pepsi Smash: Solange

Solange recently recorded performances for Pepsi Smash-Yahoo Music singing bother her new single "T.O.N.Y." and a cover of Coldplay's "Viva la Vida." I like Solange she is a relaxed version of Beyonce without the tremendous off putting ego. I think it is mad funny that her band is a bunch of loser white guys...it just adds to the awesomeness that is Solange...okay not really. But I can pretend...Whatever...Shutup!

I Hate This Part- Pussycat Dolls

I really cannot stand how much I like the song "I Hate This Part" by the Pussycat Dolls but nevertheless- I do like it so take a look at them singing it. From their Doll Domination World Tour here they are preforming in Birmingham a few days ago.

Give it a Try: Sia

Sia is a crazy talented indie artist she was honored with the title of  No. 1 Pop Album of 2008 and No. 4 Album of 2008 by US iTunes. Her voice is tremendously beautiful and Entertainment Weekly said her album was "stunning." I recently re-watched the entire HBO series Six Feet Under and the series ends with a montage (see below) of every character's death played out as a music video to the song "Breathe Me" by Sia

The song really sets the mood for that scene and after watching I remembered that the song was also in the movie Garden State. A few months back I also saw Sia on David Letterman (see below) Performing "Soon We'll Be Found" and I got to thinking that I should just give her a little (very little because you are the only one that reads this. Trust. you are.) push into people minds.

Watch: Spaceman - The Killers

Let me start by saying that I used to be a Big fan of The Killers but then they got into that "lets have awkward mustaches and make less cool (more country-esque) music oh and have awkward mustaches-did I mention the mustaches?" faze of their career. But as of recent they having been coming out with music that I like again and they shaved (not that I have anything bad to say about facial hair-but they weird all about it). 

So, I like this song (Spaceman) a lot more every time that I hear it. But this video is a hot mess- and I'm not sure that it is the good kind like I usually find...I really like the set up and the costuming is straight out of an Acid Trip but the video starts to drag in many places. I swear that they could have built a better video if they had a bigger set and/or setup. Try to remember that this is a music video and not a dream sequence and or a memory of you playing with all of your old My Little Ponies/ Barbies/ Wrestling Action Figures/ and Trollz. yeah- just watch and enjoy...

History in the making

Okay, I'm letting you know now- this is not an entirely serious post. When I went to Yahoo just a moment ago I saw the picture above-and laughed my ass off! Aretha Franklin's hat is out of control! My brother and I agree that it seriously deserves a place in the Smithsonian Museum for the "All Time Most Sexiest Hat Ever!"-they should build a new wing just to house that fantastic hat. 

But more importantly- Aretha-supreme ruler of the largest titty sacks ever AND now owner of the most fantastic hat ever-sang "My Country Tis of Thee" at PRESIDENT OBAMA'S inauguration. Yeah-yeah, Thats all fine and dandy but the fun part is that during the song she told someone to shutup! NOT EVEN LYING. I give Aretha a whole lot more respect now-not that I would ever disrespect her because she would eat me she wrote that song "Respect" and everything so she deserves it...right? I'm changing my tune! I've decided that when it comes down to it...I love Kanye! Okay. so here is the deal....above is the new cover to VIBE Magazine and Kanye had a little bit, and I do mean just a little bit, to say about the cover:

OKAY, KANYE - YOU HURT MY EYES WITH ALL THE CAPS BUT THE HIDDEN MESSAGE OF PURE IGNORANCE MAKES MY HEART SMILE!!!! And come on...8 "A"s doesn't really get your point across in "damn" but I give you mad props on 22 "!" that really helps the message. Oh Kanye...you continue to amaze and wonder....but your new CD still hurts as much as the Caps Lock you are so bent on constantly using...OH! and I love that you having Grey in your beard instantly makes you think that you are Brad Pitt or something. You really are truly a wonder of self centered amazingness....

The 'New' New Year's Eve Ball: 32,256 LEDs, 

11,875 pounds, 20% more efficient

Well, I missed seeing the ball drop this year, I was with some friends who don't have cable yet- I know that sounds horribly ghetto, its not, don't worry. Anyway, I looked up some specks on it and the new ball this year is straight crazy. It is now 12 feet wide, weighing over 11 thousand pounds-the building it sits atop of had to retrofitted just to be able to support its weight. There are 2,668 Waterford crystals all up on it lit by 32,256 LEDs and it can cycle through 16 million colors. Yup there really is that many colors, I checked. 

I think I heard somewhere that they may even keep the ball up year round and lit it differently for different holidays...I dont like that idea but whatever-not my decision! Oh here is the vid of the Ball droppin in cased you missed it like I did.
